Voice Talent Online is delighted to announce that Lorraine Jideofor, a student at Curtin University, Mauritius, has been named the winner of the 2025–26 Voice Talent Online Scholarship.
Lorraine, who is studying for a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management and is due to graduate in February 2027, impressed the judging panel with an outstanding blog article that combined creativity, research and engaging storytelling.
The annual scholarship awards US$1,000 to a student whose work demonstrates creativity & flair, is based in facts and captivates the audience to even inspire action.
A winning piece of writing
Lorraine’s winning article, My Top 5 Animated Voiceovers, immediately captured the judges’ attention.
When informing Lorraine that she had won, Voice Talent Online founder Simon Luckhurst wrote:
“Your blog article is super-creative, visually fun, has fascinating statistics, is emotionally honest, and most of all, just makes you want to read it.”
Those qualities ultimately set her entry apart in what proved to be another exceptionally competitive year.
Mauritius – a remarkable place to study
Lorraine’s photographs of the island showcase both Curtin University, Mauritius and some of the beautiful scenery that makes the island such a special place to study. You can see Mauritius is an island that continues to attract students from around the world.
Although Mauritius is famous internationally for its crystal-clear lagoons, white sandy beaches and year-round tropical climate, it is also quietly building an excellent reputation as a destination for higher education. Students benefit from internationally recognised universities, a multicultural society, widespread English usage in education and business, and a safe, welcoming environment that makes it an attractive place to live and learn.
Lorraine herself is an international student, and she describes one of the greatest strengths of studying in Mauritius as the people.
“My uni has a melting pot of diverse individuals, and that makes the learning process all the more enjoyable.”
When asked what she enjoys most about life in Mauritius, her answer paints an equally appealing picture.
Rather than describing a single attraction, she talks about the balance that the island offers. After busy days studying, Mauritius’ beautiful beaches provide somewhere to relax, recharge and spend time with friends, while the cafés around Moka have become favourite places to meet, study and enjoy the vibrant student atmosphere.
That combination of academic opportunity, cultural diversity and an exceptional quality of life is helping Mauritius become an increasingly attractive destination for students looking to study overseas.
Looking ahead
Winning the scholarship means far more to Lorraine than simply receiving a financial prize.
She explained:
“Winning this award means more than I can articulate… this award came at a time when I really needed it.”
She intends to use part of the scholarship to support her day-to-day living costs while also helping to fund applications for future Master’s programmes.
