About the Scholarship

THE 2023-24 SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION IS NOW OPEN. APPLY NOW!

What is the Scholarship?

Our annual Scholarship Competitions invite academically outstanding students to compete for one of our three monetary prizes equal to a combined amount of USD $3,000!

Our purpose is to help students at least a little bit with those annoying costs related to studying, such as books, rent, transport and so on.

Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are open!

Who can apply?

You can apply for the scholarship if you are a student enrolled in a university or college anywhere in the world. In fact, we receive applications from all over the world, including Brazil, Canada, Nigeria, and The Philippines! You can read about our previous winners here.

This year’s themes are…

  • “Voice Talent in Video Gaming: Golden Age or Obsolete?”
  • “Auto-Captions in Video Translations: Helpful or Hurtful?”

Your work should respond to the theme, implicitly or explicitly, but we’re looking for quality writing first and foremost. The following titles are suggestions. Feel free to adapt each a little but stay on the same theme!

Past Winners

2022/23 Winner Mariam Razi from University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

“I entered the competition on a whim and I definitely did not expect to win. I am so glad I took the opportunity though! As an English language and literature major, the money is definitely going towards buying some of the books on my reading list.”

Scholarship Winner Mariam Razi

2021-22 Winner Tristan Agpawa from McMaster University, Canada

“I felt like this little kid jumping up and down. I called my mom right away! I hope to save the prize money for the rainy days, especially during these uncertain times when the prices of basic commodities and goods had been increasing.”

2020-21 Winner Nice Senolan from Marmara University, Turkey

“I thought writing about the impacts of language on people from an international company’s perspective would challenge me to think outside the box while enabling me to have a deeper understanding of some marketing strategies.”

Tristan, Nice and Mariam talk about entering the scholarship competition and what it feels like to be a winner!
